Varallo Sesia

The city, which today counts 7600 inhabitants, is considered since the past the chief town of Valsesia and the point of reference to all the town counciles located along the numerous valleys which compose Valsesia. Varallo rises on the meeting point of rivers Mastallone and Sesia and it is dominated by the cliff on which raises Sacro Monte, treasure of art and faith.

The river Mastellone divides Varallo into two big parts: Old Varallo placed underneath mount Vaso, where you can find the signs of the old town nobility and New Varallo, placed on the left side of the river. In this area there is the historical centre with old streets, buildings, churces and monuments which characterized Varallo in the past centuries.
